Meeting A Royal!

Hello All!

Long time since I last posted!! Sorry!  It has been quite busy here with papers and coursework and exams all due! However, break has now started so be ready for a flurry of posts!

A few weeks ago Nottingham had a couple of Royal Visitors!! Meghan and Harry came to visit their home's namesake on December 1st. The couple who live (or will live) in Nottingham Cottage came and visited the city to attend a World Aids Day charity fair at the Nottingham Contemporary museum.  They also visited a school in the area but it was the 120m walk they took from the National Justice Museum to the Contemporary that had the flat all atwitter.

When a Royal comes to visit the city you're living in for the year, you have to go and see them! so despite the mountains of homework we all had we put on our coats got some tea and hot chocolate and found ourselves a spot along the crowded street.

The couple didn’t give a lot of information about when they would be in Nottingham except for mid-morning. Now as an American that can mean a lot of different things but to a Brit it was 10 o’clock so we got there around 9:00 and waited.  A lot of us from the flat went but we didn’t quite coordinate ourselves enough to be together. Libby got the most lime-light from the experience getting to talk to Harry and to be interviewed by NBC!  I went with Anna and Kelli we all got to briefly shake Meghan’s hand and overall it was a really fun and cool experience.

Here are some Photos from our Morning!

It was so much fun to get to spend the morning with a bunch of royal crazy Brits we made some friends with the couple standing around us.  It was also amazing to get to see all the news stations and paparazzi swarm the crowds and scramble to get the perfect spot for the perfect picture. you always hear about how crazy the paparazzi can be but it is a completely different thing to see it.  All in all the morning was tons of fun and well worth the late night of homework!

Cheers!
Meghan
